Interview with Beth Allen (The Tribe's Amber).

Ali was lucky enough to grab a few minutes with Beth Allen, who plays Amber, in Channel 5's addictive series The Tribe! See what she has to say about the show, her character and how she fell into acting...

Hi Beth. Tell us a bit about the Tribe, for those peeps who haven't watched it yet
It's a teen series based around a group of children living in a shopping mall as all the adults have died from a virus. These kids have to survive on their own, so it's based on our lives.

Sounds interesting! If this was real-life and everyone was killed, who would you like to survive with?
Hmmm... my friends and my mum.

What? No Brad Pitt?!!
Well, I bet he doesn't make as good a roast as my mum! Although, yeah! I wouldn't say no if Brad survived with me!

Can you describe your character Amber for us?
Amber was the leader of the tribe in series 1. We're screening series three at the moment. I had series two off because of my schoolwork but I'm back in series three.
She's definitely confident and headstrong. She also has these really strong visions for the future. She's the one that got to boss everyone around, which is great!

How did you get into acting?
I was 10 years old and kind of fell into it! I went to drama school. A friend of ours was an actor and I kind of went from there! I got a role in The Legend of William Tell. The rest is history

Where's the Tribe based?
The Tribe is based in New Zealand so when I'm filming, I live there. However, when I'm not filming, I live in New Auckland.

What are you up to after the third series?
My mum and dad installed a thing about education into me so I'm off to Uni. I'm not sure if there's going to be a fourth series yet.

So, The Tribe are going to release an album, can you tell me about it?
I haven't really done the album so I'm not really involved with the music. I don't actually have any aspirations to be a singer, although the others have great voices!
The album has really grown on me! I can't stop listening to it! It's very tribal, with some pop mixed in.

When will it be out for people to buy?
As far as I know, it will be out at the end of March.

Finally, what music do you like listening to?
I like one of your guys actually!! Gomez, Radiohead, although their last album was weird, U2 and Nick Cave - they're cool!
