She loves conflicts, is super jealous and takes the boyfriends of other girls. Fans will know were talking about Ebony... The actress Meryl Cassie is popular because of her role as Ebony in The Tribe.
The Tribe
‘Mention The Tribe and I think about a world without adults and only kids who need to struggle to survive. If it happened in real life I don’t know what to do. I love my family, I never had strict parents, that plays a part in it too. It’s a good story for a TV show but it’s something unreal. In New Zealand the Tribe is popular as well. I think it’s because you recognise the matters in real live too.’
Ebony
‘She’s very stubborn and bossy person and she always wants to be right. Besides, she’s keen on power, so you understand she’s nothing like me! - Well I admit I can be bossy sometimes, but I would never like to be the president of America. Ebony would never be a friend of mine in real life. She loves conflicts, she’s jealous of other woman and she likes to steal boyfriends. She’s a horrible person really, can I get another part, haha?!!’
School
‘When I was at school I kind of was like Ebony, I was a bit of a rebel and I quit school at an early age, also because The Tribe began filming. At school I was in a girls group. We were busy with boys and sometimes it went wrong... You know like two girls falling in love with the same boy. The problem was solved when the boy had enough of the fighting and didn’t want both of the girls. Then we were insecure - What’s wrong with me?? - Ah, you know, that kind of stuff!’
Bitch
‘I love to play the bitch in The Tribe. Even when I’m not acting I love to have a tough conversation. I like to play more Ebony types as long as people don’t take my part too seriously!’
Spare Time
‘I sleep a lot in my spare time. A normal day at the set means you have to get up early, for applying make up. So I use the weekends for my beauty sleep. After that I’m going shopping, but after the shopping I don’t feel up to going out. I’m not a party animal, although people think I am. After the shopping I'd rather go to my friends, or sing and perform with my two sisters. They act in The Tribe as well; as Java and Siva, (Season 4/5)’
Language
‘I speak a little bit of Dutch did you know that?... Well, I understand it a bit. My parents have lived in South-Africa for a long time so I know your language.’
Kids Rule The World
‘Yes, I agree with that, younger kids are more honest. But I do think there should be an authority and rules, or else it will be a whole mess on Earth. You probably understand that yourself: If your parents are gone you put your stereo at full blast and you drink and eat and make a mess of it. So it’s better that there are rules. Although grown ups don’t always obey the rules as well’
Popular
‘Michael Wesley-Smith (Jack) is very popular in New Zealand as well as in Europe. I get recognised as well, although in New Zealand The Tribe is shown on an impossible early time of day on a Sunday morning - When everybody is still sleeping. But we are getting more and more famous and I like that.’
The Lord Of The Rings
‘Fantastic movie! A lot of people of the crew (of the series) have worked on the set. I really wanted to work on the project as well. I don’t care who. Even if I had to play Frodo the Hobbit I wouldn’t have mind!’
Future
‘What I just said, bitchy roles. I’m just not the kind of girl who likes to play the happy chick. I’d like to play a psycho one! - Someone who gets totally crazy at the end!’
Boyfriend
‘There was a boy who followed me a few months, when he finally shook my hand he wet his pants. And a couple of days ago I got a letter from a boy who’s from London. He asked me if we could be a couple. I get more of these sweet letters. Sometimes people send candy or chocolate, or other gifts. Yes also from Holland - thanks fans! But to return to this boy, I told him I didn’t have time for a boyfriend. I’m far too busy!’
