Tell us something about the part you play….
Meryl: Ebony is a troublemaker and she makes a lot of trouble. She frequently tells lies and steels boyfriends. I think it's a very cool part, especially because I recognise so little of myself in Ebony - Except that I always want to be right, just like her, hahaha!
Antonia: I play the part of Trudy; she is a single teenage mother. She often is scared of making the wrong decisions. One moment she's very happy and the next moment she's very sad. I can understand it, because she's still very young of course. Trudy falls in love easily and is always looking for a sweet boyfriend who can take care of her. I recognise a lot of things from myself in the part! I'm very caring and I love children and just like Trudy I'd do anything for my friends.
James: Jay is a member of the Techno's. He'd love to see things going back to the way they were before the virus. That's why he belongs to his tribe, because they have the most modern gadgets to achieve that. When he discovers what the leader of the Techno's has got evil plans, Jay tries to stop him.
Meryl and Antonia, you know each other very well. Try to describe each other.
Meryl: Antonia is very sweet and caring and she's always honest. When she doesn't like something, she'll say it immediately and she'll tell how she feels. She knows what she wants. Antonia is a great friend.
Antonia: Meryl is one of the most open and friendly people I know. I almost can't imagine her getting angry. Everybody thinks she's cool and it's definitely worth getting to know her.
Why is it so cool to play in The Tribe?
Meryl: I always thought it would be tremendously cool to play someone who is very different from myself. Now I've got a good excuse to be mean sometimes: also I find the storyline very good and the cast are great.
Antonia: To play Trudy is great. One moment she's in tears the next she's wildly happy. I experience so much with her! It's a great challenge to play the part. But the cast is also unique. We're with nineteen people and we're almost all the same age. Sometimes I don't understand that it is possible that we can get along so well with each other and never fight. The crew constantly keeps asking us to shut up when it gets too cosy again…
The series is about a world in which there are only children. What would you say about living in a world without adults?
Meryl: I would really not want to think about that! I'm very close with my parents. For a lot of kids it might be a dream. No dishes and other nasty jobs. Of course we fight sometimes, but I learned a lot from them and there's no way I could miss them!
Antonia: Of course it seems great, because you can do what you want. But you really need your parents to teach you things.
James: I think it would be extremely difficult. Children don't exactly know yet what's right or wrong. You learn that from your parents.
What would you do what your parents don't allow you to do right now?
Antonia: A few years ago I would party and come back home very, very late, because back then I had to be back home at certain times. But now my parents allow me to do anything.
You get into a time machine and fly to the year 3003… What do you think the world looks like?
Antonia: I think there will be flying cars!
Meryl: Yes, that could very well be possible, 'cause technology has developed very quickly these past few years. I think that will continue for a while. If I'd like to live in that time…? Eh, I don't think so. For me everything can stay the way it is right now.
Antonia: But I would like to know how it would be in the future. It would be nice if we could visit that world, check out if it is cool and then go back to "now" very quickly.
James: I think the whole world will be extremely modern. Who knows; people might be living in oceans! Just like the movie "Waterworld" with Kevin Costner. And probably there will people who moved to other planets. If it continues like this, then in a thousand years there will only be perfect people and you'll be really special when you have a weird nose or funny eyes.
Do you believe in aliens?
Antonia: I don't believe we're the only people on this tiny world in the extremely big universe. Meryl: I think it's a scary thought that there might be small green men with big, bulging eyes, living somewhere.
James: Yes, there has to be more than just us!
What if you could be an alien for a day, what would you do?
Antonia: I would make myself invisible and eavesdrop on a group of boys, 'cause I'd like to know what they really talk about!
Meryl: Yes, make me invisible too. Then I would fly through the walls to see what all the big stars are doing!
You move to another planet, what would you miss most from earth?
Antonia: I'd miss the food and especially European food! You guys have got really delicious food. On every corner of the street you can find something to snack on, hmmm…
Meryl: I'd terribly miss my family!
James: My complete environment with my parents and my friend. But I'd also miss the trees, the water and the nice weather.
In what way should the world be changed in the year 3003?
Antonia: No more wars and poverty!
Meryl: And I hope the people will have more respect for each other.
James: People should be nicer to each other and should not only think about themselves.
