Euro & US Renewals For The Tribe.

In Sweden, pubcaster SVT's niche children's channel Barnkanalen has come back for a third helping of Cloud 9 Screen Entertainment's futuristic teen drama The Tribe.

The third season will air in the channel's 17.30 slot from Tuesdays to Fridays, starting in early August 2004. The most recent fifth season has also gone to US kids cable channel WAM!, part of the Starz Encore Group, to air from autumn 2004.

In Germany, - "the number one fans of The Tribe," according to Cumulus Distribution's head of sales Jayne Pitts - Ki.Ka channel has picked up season five. European publisher Panini is also to produce a further five books based on the show for the German-speaking market, bringing the total to 11, added Pitts.

As well as books, an extensive range of Tribe ancillary products is already available in Germany, including The Tribe Blooper videos, The Tribe on Tour video, two Tribe albums and The Tribe DVDs.

Pitts added that UK network Five is currently mulling over a sixth season of the show, after the fifth season ended last year.

Meanwhile, development is underway on an animated version of The Tribe, via Cloud 9's Australian sister Dreamcloud, a joint-venture with Brisbane-based Light Knights Entertainment.
