MIPCOM NEWS: Latin American outfit Televix has picked up the distribution rights to tween drama series The Tribe (260x30'), in a deal with Cloud 9 Entertainment Group's subsidiary, Cumulus Distribution, it was announced today at Mipcom.

The move is intended to drive sales of the series into South American markets. "The long-running format, tween target market and dramatic story lines make the series ideal for these markets," said Katherine Kaufman, vp of sales at Televix Entertainment.

Made by independent live-action family drama specialists Cloud 9, The Tribe's adult-free storylines depict warring tribes of children who set out to create a new society. The series is currently is its fifth season on the kid-friendly entertainment channel WAM! in the US. It has also been licensed to over 40 broadcasters worldwide, including Five (UK), Ki.Ka (Germany) and ABC Kids (Australia).
